Mr McGregor: Summer Barbecues

It is now the season for barbecues and I have been preparing some recipes that will have all my friends and family’s mouth watering with excitement. With all the vegetables I have been growing on the allotment I have been going crazy with stuffing them with some great recipes I have found on the internet.

My onions have been growing really well, but I have been scratching my head with what to do with them. They are brilliant to have inside a burger or on top of hot dogs (the kids personal favourite), but I want to do something a bit different. Searching on the internet for onion recipes that I could do on my gas bbq I stumbled across this beauty that is ideal for serving 6:

All you need is;

  • 6 large onions,
  • 2 cups bread cubes, which should be about 4 slices depending on the size of loaf you have (even better if you have baked it yourself) and ideally two days old,
  • 2/3 cup chicken broth and
  • 1/4 pound fresh Italian sausage

Method

Ok, this may not be a recipe for the barbecue, but when it is served with some barbecued meat it is sensational!

Happy barbecueing

Mr McGregor
